This happened to be one of the first Aspens I noticed turning within the Bow Valley.
Coming from Australia where we do not get to see fall colours it was an incredible sight to see and I was inspired to come away with something I was happy with.
I screwed my circular polarizer onto my wide angle lens and lay down at the base of the Aspen. I thought if I chose a relatively slow shutter speed (1/30sec) and zoomed in during the exposure it would create an interesting image. With the lens at its widest (17mm) I composed the shot, hit the shutter release and quickly zoomed in to 35mm, this gave the movement/blur I was after.

don't forget to
Very steady hand! You were lying on the ground then?
1/30 is not that much, so you must have zoomed pretty fast, to get this result^^
I have featured this in my journal [link]
